I am a multi discipline artist, with a passion for experimentation and the need to constantly push myself, finding new and exciting ways to interpret the beauty of nature and sound, not so much for pleasure but a genuine need to produce, to cross and break down the unnecessary barriers separating the different art forms.
From the age of seven years, when I won my first painting competition, I have known that art was “my thing” Although as a school child my passion was for hours spent in the art class, I also loved metal work, wood work and technology and this has evolved into my constant need to escape the constraints of two dimensions. In the late 1980s after qualifying in fine art and photography I traveled to America to work as a photographer on cruise ships, first based in Miami traveling the Caribbean later based in New York and traveling to Bermuda. In these two years I was never without paint and canvas and eventually the pull of the paint was too much and I moved into New York to work as a full-time painter.
After a successful period I had to move back to the UK where I had many shows and exhibitions as well as sculpture commissions for companies such as Smith Cline Beecham. I continued to work as a photographer but also expanded into illustration work specializing in historic design and cartography, working for such companies as ADNAMS brewery PLC and RIDLEYS brewery. I have now been working in the arts for more than 30 years and I currently reside in Southwest France, my work still evolves and changes and I would say now is at its most fluid and exciting. I feel happy and privileged to have been given this passion for life in all its forms and hope you find some enjoyment from it.
